Meet Hoppy

Salt Lake City, Utah

Hoppy begins and ends with ideas. The project was started as a vessel for songs I started writing. Davey & I have played together since we were children, so asking him to play in the group was my first instinct, even though our musical influences were quite different. We began sketching songs, found our first real third member in Tanner, played shows across the Utah and Salt Lake valleys, added and subtracted members, and crafted whole conceptual themes only to turn around and throw them away when a new idea came bubbling to the surface. It took us quite a while to find the common ground needed to write cohesively together. But as time moves on, old plans are changed. Life starts to happen whether you want it to or not. After a few years of this, the ideas started again. Fresh and revitalized with what felt like a new page in a book, the three of us set out to write as much material as we could, armed with a new sound. After adding Jacob, Cole, and KC to the group, I finally feel we’ve reached a new zenith as a band. We move forward, willing to explore new sounds at any whim. I’m so proud of this band, and I’ll continue to write and perform songs with my friends as long as I’m able.
